TSGL: Redundancy check

Hi everyone,
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what a redundancy 
check is. I have a dvd/rw with about five movies on it and one of 
them won't play because it comes up with a redundancy bad check. It 
won't play , I can't transfer it. nothing. All the other movies play 
fine but if I can't get this one to play, actually the whole disk is trash.
I'm trying to open it in a Plextor burner, if that's any help.
Can this file be recovered in any way? Software or whatever?
