TSGL: An Acronis Tale

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about Acronis.
It stands to reason that a backup is only as good as the location of the
backup files. All the verification in the world won't help if the backup
medium, whether it be a hard drive, DVD, or my grandmother's spinning
wheel, won't be any use if the medium itself becomes damaged.
In the article in question, I'm not at all surprised that the author found
himself in trouble. His backup methods seemed to be asking for trouble
sooner or later, they seem to be so convoluted.
Replacing backups with incrementals and more incrementals is surely bound
to run into trouble eventually.
Keep it simple.
