TSGL: 3rd party drivers?

Hi, Russ. I'm one of those people who have had a few problems with
Vista Home Premium on my new desktop, altho I wouldn't say I'm unhappy
with it overall. I did have a problem installing the new Vista SP1 and
had to back out of the install. Based on advice from several of the IT
Technical writers, I've decided to wait awhile before trying to
re-install SP1.

Your comments below have raised several questions in my mind about Vista
and some problems I'm still having that maybe you can clarify. I
haven't been able to find the answers using the Help resource in Vista.

1--If I turn off the User Account Control (UAC) as you suggest, does
this mean that each user who now has an account setup with Vista loses
the log on/log off capability that allows each user to set up their own
individual system setup and display?? My wife and daughter both use the
desktop and both have their setup and screen displays configured to the
way they like it and would probably be unhappy if they lost that capability.

2--Every once in awhile I run into a problem trying to do something in
Vista that results in a message popping up saying something like "you
must have Administrator privileges to complete this action". When I got
the new desktop with Vista last Fall and turned the system on for the
first time, it asked who would be setup as the Administrator. I setup
myself as the Administrator and I always log on to my user account using
that same log on. Why would I be getting these messages if I'm logged
on as the Administrator?? I've searched but I have no idea what to do
to make myself whatever type of Administrator that the computer is
asking for in order to complete the action I'm trying to take. As an
example, I've had trouble installing the old standby freeware malware
application "Spybot Search and Destroy" on the Vista desktop. It won't
install and download updates properly. The Spyboy S&D tech folks have
told me to be sure to uninstall the old Spybot S&D application first,
then download the new version and to manually delete any remnants of the
old Spyboy S&D application that remain after the uninstall. I've
uninstalled the old version using the Control Panel uninstall feature
and while it removes it from the list of installed programs, the old
Spybot S&D folder remains in the list of Program Files on the computer.
When I go in and try to manually delete the folder and its contents, I
get this message saying I have to have Administrator privileges to
complete the deletion of the folder and contents to the Recycle Bin. I
have no idea how to make myself the Administrator that the system wants.

3--How do I get to the "Application's Properties Compatibilites Tab" as
you suggest below?? Do I need to do this for each individual
application program or can I do it just one time to make it applicable
for ALL the applications?? Same question for setting the privilege
level to "Run this program as administrator" as you mention below.

Many thanks for any assistance.
