This is generally not a good idea (unless there are compelling reasons),
for the following reasons:

1. It is a waste of internet bandwidth. This, it seems, is starting to
become a real issue.

2. There can be serious security risks associated with html emails, so many
email filters will block formatted emails. Thus your emails may sometimes
not reach their destination. These filters might be set either by ISP's, or
by the recipients own security settings.

3. Spammers often use html emails, so spam filters will assign a high
rating to such emails. In combination with other parameters outside your
control (eg the route your emails take, the form of headings, etc) these
ratings can increase the possibility that your emails could be classified
as spam.

4. It will greatly increase the download times and limits for recipients on
dialup. Formatted emails are likely to be around 10 times the size of plain
text.

5. Some users such as myself have email filters set to send and receive
plain text only. Sadly, this means that occasionally I miss out on some
goodies. But I sleep peacefully at nights knowing---or hoping---that I am
secure.
