TSGL: Task bar freezing

Hi rayo,

I don't know the reason for your freezing taskbar, and have no specific 
solution since this does depend on your hard & software configuration. Just 
a few hints:

You should tell us whether this is a problem you encounter always, or just 
sometimes. Also - does IE behave normal, or does it show any strange 
behaviour, like freezing too?

0. clean out all temp files
1. check the system control panel / device manager for any indications of 
missing or broken items (any yellow exclamation marks or such?). If yes, try 
to either re-install the correct drivers, or delete the item and let Windows 
find the hardware & create new settings after a reboot.
2. identify possible applications causing the freeze:
    try to reboot XP without any of the startup items running ("run" 
msconfig from e.g. the start button "Run" command, select the last tab and 
click on 'deactivate' (or how it's called with your English system)). Then 
reboot and see whether you still have the problems. If not, try to add item 
after item, and see where the problems begin.
3. check system administration - events (application or system) that may 
have occured (though I wouldn't expect any)

  Working with XP PRO  (all current updates) and MS Office 2003 (all
  updates) (2 GB RAM)


  Every thing works good and I will have 3 or 4 files open and
  minimized to the task bar.. and a couple of other tasks running

  When I go to open an item that is on the task bar (or use the Window
  Key (IE for the windows Explore)  the pc hangs for anywhere from a
  few seconds to a few minutes.

  What I have found tho is that All items on the task bar and the
  window key will be frozen BUT any Icon that I have on my desk top
  will still open right up.

  any ideas
