I've helped 2 friends with the same problem - one uses Thunderbird 
and the other Yahoo.  The problem with forwarding as an attachment is 
that you see none of the text and thus can't delete all the 
unnecessary information.  In Thunderbird the change was under either 
Tools or Options and in Yahoo web mail, it was as follows: 
Options  >>  General preferences

I really don't understand why this option exists as it's set by 
default and inexperienced users just keep forwarding larger and 
larger messages with unnecessary headers.
