If you mean lying as not telling the truth about your Certified copy of
Windows then you don't want any any patches that are part of the Windows
Genuine Advantage, but otherwise if you have a legit copy of Windows then
you have no worries about Windows patches.

Sorry for my confusion, but you specified "lying" and according to Webster's
online dictionary that means "lying - the deliberate act of deviating from
the truth".  Did you mean "laying around"?
