Henry,
one thing that comes to my mind - the pictures may be read-only. Since
Windows does save the pics again after the change, this won't work.

Have you btw seen that free & interesting 'photogallery' as part of Windows
Live for XP ? I've already tried it and found it quite interesting.

I have a new PC at work with Windows XP Pro. I brought some pics from
home some of which need to be rotated. When I go to My pictures and the
folder where the PICS reside the rotation option is grayed out.
Does anyone know how to get this option back?
