TSGL: Unable to update drivers for nVidia card

Bo,
let me add some more to what Don said in his last para - mostly in the same
vein:
<For each new release, bugs are
corrected and it does make a difference.
>
A difference, yes. Sometimes unfortunately it's not a difference users do
appreciate. Depends on whether (1) there are any new quirks built into the
new release and/or (2) the new driver shows incompatibilities with certain
hardware / software one uses.
It's not uncommon that people are advised to go back to earlier releases for
drivers ... best to be found out in forums (fora) for that specific piece of
hardware (don't know whether there is one for nVidia). Personally I've often
been told NOT to upgrade graphics drivers unless there are serious problems,
quite common for instance with MS Flight simulator back then, which was hard
to get to run smoothly on many systems ... the update for my nVidia drivers
is still sitting in my 'download' folder, sofar untouched ;-))
Just my 2 cents (euro)
Tilman

Hi Don,
The main reason why I want to keep the drivers updated is that I
recently play quite a lot of games. For each new release, bugs are
corrected and it does make a difference.
So far, I have not had any problems restoring the PC to the old drivers.
I'm just not able to update them
Regards / Bo

As you are able to boot into Safe Mode, your screen resolution is
probably set to a resolution which the new drivers are not able to
deliver.
System Restore should restore the previous screen settings. There should
be a Restore Point made when the new drivers were installed.
Or, much simpler, if you've made registry backups, try a registry
restore first from Safe Mode.
But I'm not clear why you were updating the display drivers in the first
place. Were you experiencing any display problems before the update?
