TSGL: FW: Video Card Problem?

Justin,

I looked through my massive Downloads Folder and wasn't able to find Hiren's
Boot CD, so I googled it and found a page for it, Unfortunately, there was
no download link, so I checked other pages from google. Other folks seemed
to have the same problem as I, not finding a download link. At last I found
one ... an rar file. 95 MB later, I tried to extract it, but the file was
corrupted. I tried to find other download sites, including P2P sites. All I
was able to find was virus infected files. Perhaps you misspelled the name?

Russ

The Video Card was very, very hot and the computer runs a lot quieter with
its successor. And yes, it was cooled by a fan, so there were moving parts
(when I took it out, I noticed the fan was dirty). I think the darn thing
burned out.

But I hadn't thought about the hard drive thing. I will run your hard drive
test just to be sure.

Thanks,

Russ

check your hard drive integrity with Hiren's boot CD

load teh CD and go to "testing tools"

select "test hard disk drive"

run the test.

It sounds like your Hard Drive is losing it's memory.

Electronics that do not have moving parts when manufactured by name brand
companies are unlikely to wear.

Look at the video card you have removed and take note as to wether or not
the Capacitors are leaking. It will be really obvious, gunk on them.

If not, it sounds like a forgetful Hard Drive.

Video cards are either broken when you get them or fine, although this could
be one of those rare "wear and tear" situation

Regards,

Justin
