Yes.

Bottom of POST screen says "Press delete to enter setup" and "...Escape to 
exit".

I've pressed umpteen keys---Esc, Del, F2-4, F8-10--all known good keyboards 
(3) seem dead. Nothing happens.

It's not even trying to find NTLdr or whatever the next step normally is. 
Just dies at the POST screen. If any of the XP boot sequence files were 
missing/corrupt, I'd expect an error message.  So it's not even starting to 
load XP.
