I installed the Vista Codec pack and now my MCE files work as a dream.
Many thanks!

Try installing the Vista Codec Pack ...
http://shark007.net/ or the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack ...
http://www.codecguide.com/about_mega.htm
Personally, I use the Vista Codec Pack and have had no problems with it.
The only advantage the K-Lite Mega Pack has over the Vista Pack is that
when upgrading, K-Lite can be installed over itself. With Vista, you
must uninstall prior to installing the new version.
My suggestion, try Vista, and it that doesn't work, uninstall it and try
K-Lite. If one doesn't work, the other should.

Subject: TSGL: Using a Vista generated file (video) on another Vista
machine
I have two machines with Vista, one at home using the Home Premium
(Desktop) and one at work using the Enterprise Edition (Laptop). Quite
often I record TV shows, on my home machine, using Media Center. What I
like to do is to transfer some of these recordings to my work PC and
watch the shows when I travel. However, the Enterprise Edition can't
play these files in Media Player as it keeps nagging about missing
codecs. I know Media Center is not part of Enterprise Edition but still,
should a file created by Vista be compatible with another Vista?
Is there an easy fix for this?
Note VLC (VideoLan) can play the file but the sound is damaged. It's not
completely in sync with the video.
Regards / Bo
