Image the 4gb onto the 80gb. Or if you don't want to buy imaging software
just use another computer and copy everything over. Keep in mind to Copy and
keep it on the 4GB to ensure everything works fine on the 80gb.

Thanks

Subject: TSGL: what to do with a FOUR GIG drive?

I have a weird situation. I got a used HP desktop. The 80-gig harddrive was
not booting.
A techie friend suggested he would get me going with a new (used)
harddrive.
He came over and put it in, loaded XP and Office, as licensed,
and a few utilities and then we checked Properties on the drive and I was
astonished to see it was about 80% full ! He said "Yep, that's a four gig
drive"

So, after all that I have a computer that can't be used to store much of
anything
  or install more programs on.

So, I took off the jumpers from the 80-gig and put it in as a slave.
Formatted it, and wrote it full of files to test it out. It appears fine.

Now, my questions. Should I keep that configuration, or should I instead
toss the 4gigger and get an OS and Office put onto the 80?

If I should switch, how do I go about it? I don't have a CD for windows
or office. I suppose I could use Open Office instead of Office. Is there a
reliable inexpensive alternative to win-XP? I assume, once booted now, there
is no way to transfer the XP OS onto the 80gig.

Could/should I put an OS on the 80 now, with it as slave, and then remove
the 4gig, set the jumpers on the 80 back to Master, and hook it up?
I kinda know what I'm doing, but haven't been through this before and need
a plan.
  Thanks, Chuck
