I totally agree.

I read recently that Google reviewed its 150,000 hard drives and concluded 
that age, rather than usage, is the main determining factor in HD failure. 
That is borne out by other research. It seems that manufacturers MTTF 
claims bear little resemblance to the real world.

After 7 years, which is about the age of your 4 Gb, the likelihood of 
failure rises dramatically.

It may be perfect today, and gone tomorrow. Not worth the trouble.

Whoever installed it for you did you no favours.
