TSGL: MS SP1 for Vista--Anyone Else Having Problems??

Tilman--I wish I had waited on Vista SP1 like I did with XP SP2--I
waited for over six months before installing XP SP2 and I didn't have
any problems with the installation at that point.

The information I received on the Vista SP1 installation indicated that
MOST of SP1 had been previously included in prior Windows Updates last
fall and earlier this year, (all of which I have downloaded and
installed), but that there are some new updates in SP1.

Another FWIW--I just had a scare trying to uninstall SP1 on my new
desktop. SP1 installs and uninstalls in 3 separate stages, which take
over an hour total. During the install/uninstall process for each
stage, access to the pc is removed, you can't even use the mouse. The
computer screen tells you DO NOT TURN OFF THE COMPUTER. Just my luck
that during the uninstall process, my desktop hung up right at the start
of Stage 3--showing 0% uninstalled. As you can imagine, my first
thought was "Oh, Sh*t, now I'm really screwed". I waited 15 minutes to
see if it would do anything and it hadn't--the pc was totally locked
up. So I had no choice but to power off and restart it. Much to my
relief, the Stage 3 uninstall process started up again during the bootup
process and finished. The desktop booted up normally and all seems to
work OK again. I will definitely wait awhile before trying to install
Vista SP1 again, you can bet on that. In the meantime, I'm going to
contact Cisco Corp re the LinkSys router and find out what they know
about the problem and if they have a recommended fix.

If the Zone Alarm software firewall won't work with Vista after
installation of SP1, does anyone know of another free software firewall
that will?? I know that I could run the Windows Firewall that's
included with Vista but every evaluation I've read has rated the Windows
Firewall near the bottom of the list for effectiveness. I don't
remember the names of the other free firewall products that were evaluated.
