TSGL: MS SP1 for Vista--Anyone Else Having Problems??

Mike--based on my experience this a.m., I wouldn't recommend installing
SP1 at this point to anyone. I have an almost brand new desktop pc and
have done all prior recommended Windows Updates and still had problems
with two key programs. The most serious of course was the disruption of
my wireless network router which took out Internet connectivity on the
desktop (but the wireless connectivity still worked OK on the laptop,
thank goodness). The PR that MS is putting out regarding the SP1
installation is that there are only "a handful of software and hardware
applications" that won't work with SP1, but the fact that I ended up
with two problems on a near new desktop system makes me question that.
I called both my son and daughter who are running pc's with Vista and
told them to cancel the automatic Windows Updates and to not install SP1
anytime soon. I just talked to a friend of mine who is a high level IT
manager in a very large private health provider corporation and she told
me that the company decided last week to NOT install SP1 on any of their
Vista pc's at this point. They did the same thing with the XP SP2
update and didn't experience any of the problems that many other public
and private organizations experienced.
This type of problem is exactly the reason why I have always had Windows
Update set to NOTIFY me of recommended updates and require my OK to
download and install. My mistake was in trusting MS to not release SP1
from beta with major problems. I was well aware that there were serious
problems with a number of the beta releases, I should have known better.
