TSGL: MS SP1 for Vista--Anyone Else Having Problems??

Tilman and Lee,

I've had no problem with my Netgear Wireless Router and Vista SP1. And as I
said earlier, I have installed SP1 on 5 computers, 3 of them mine, so I have
some experience with the Service Pack. When I last wrote, I said that I
encountered no problems with the Service Pack ... that changed when the two
printers I have (an HP Photosmart 8050 and a Brother MFC5840 CN) failed to
print.

Fortunately, I was able to get the printers working by deleting the
printers, disconnecting them from the computers, deleting the drivers from
the computers and rebooting, reinstalling the drivers, rebooting, and then
reconnecting the computers.

Evidently the installation of the Service Pack somehow made changes to the
drivers in such a way that they would not work. Their reinstallation
(without the printers being connected) fixed the problem. I wonder if this
might also work with Lee's wireless router.

Another thought just struck me ... Lee's problem might not be with his
router. It might be with his Network Interface Card on his computer. If he
reinstalls SP1 and has the same problem, he should check his Device Manager
to see if the NIC is working properly, if not, uninstall it and reboot.

<Most interesting for me is your disappointing result with the Netgear
router >

Ouch - my fault, my router is a Netgear one, not a Linksys like yours ....

Sorry
Tilman
