Don't know, I never use that facility. Maybe not. It's geared more for 
video. Interface isn't as slick as WMP, which is all show and little action.

JetPlayer might be more suited for you. It seems to have playlists, which 
personally I find annoying and confusing.

I'd rather just open my Music folder and play what I want from there.

Getting back to Chuck's player problem for a moment---WinDVD is by far the 
best DVD player I've seen. It's my first choice by far if you intend 
playing a lot of DVD movies. 2nd choice is Cybershot's Power DVD--it's very 
similar. They usually ship free with DVD hardware, otherwise they cost.

I have both WinDVD versions 4 and 5. I prefer 4. Later isn't always 
better.You might even find a free copy of WinDVD4 if you hunt around. Try 
http://www.oldapps.com/  --it has PowerDVD but may be only trial versions.
