TSGL: AVG 7.5

I've been using the free AVG 7.5 version on my laptop running XP and
it's been downloading updates without any problem. I have NOT received
any messages indicating that a new version was available, however after
reading these posts, I just downloaded the free AVG 8.0 version and it
downloaded and installed just fine. FWIW--I'm using the free Avast AV
product on my desktop running Vista Home Premium. At the time I bought
the new desktop last October, AVG had not been updated to run properly
with Vista and, altho it would install and work OK in some respects, it
would not scan incoming email properly. I confirmed this shortcoming
with AVG Tech Support and switched to Avast, which does work fine with
Vista. I didn't check to see if the new version of AVG will now work
with Vista, but I like Avast better anyway so will stay with it.
