TSGL: Maximum length of keybord/mouse cord

I have my TV connected to the PC mainly for the purpose to watch video.
With this set up I use my PC's USB keyboard and mouse to set things up
like selecting what video, double click on it to get it started so on.

I'm thinking of expanding the usage of the TV so I also can play games,
brows the web etc all directly in front of the TV. For doing that, I'm
thinking of getting an new additional set of keyboard and mouse with
much longer cables (maybe I need to use some sort of cable extender for
that?). Is there I maximum length I can use for the cable between
keyboard/mouse and the TV set? Planning to use USB only and I think I
recall that USB should not be longer then 5 meters unless you add a USB
hub with dedicated power cord.

Would maybe PS/2 be a better option? Such as this one here?
