TSGL: ZIP drives

Friend of mine uses a usb ZIP 100 drive to exchange accounting files.

The drive died & she gave it to me to resurrect! On one of her
machines (an old, nearly defunct laptop) the drive isn't recognized.
On her desktop it is. Seh told me that she couldn't get it to read or
to eject with the button & when she right clicked to eject it she got
an error message.

I tried the disk.

My computer recognizes it as drive H when it's plugged in. When I
click on the + sign or the disk icon to open/explore the disk I get
a message to insert a disk (even though there's one in it.)

It wouldn't eject the disk when I pushed the button. When I right
clicked on it & chose eject it did eject the disk.

I put a different Zip disk in it. Again, when I click on the + sign
or the disk icon it tells me to insert a disk (even though there's one in it.)

It won't eject the disk when I push the button. This time when I
right click on the icon & choose eject it tells me that there's been
an error in ejecting the disk & doesn't eject it.

I'm guessing that the drive is dead & can't be fixed, but I thought
I'd ask here before telling her that.

Thanks,

Will
